Key Scriptures:

John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.

1 Corinthians 12:1 Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed.

1 Corinthians 2:13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.

1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

Hallelujah!

This week, we learned that the efforts we make throughout our lives determine our spirit's eternal destiny. While we may think that we are living diligent lives of faith, what we think we have accomplished is not as much as we expected. It is like building a house in the countryside, but when you go to a major city, you see that what you built is dated and not as satisfying as you originally thought. Or, perhaps you are trying to save a significant amount of money, but you are only working a minimum wage job and you have debt. In the same way, it is that difficult to acquire righteousness for your spirit when you carry the debt of sin.

In the Bible, it says that [Spirits] are dressed according to their deeds: Revelation 19:8 - "Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

People usually live first for the body and then live for the spirit for the rest of their time. Hence, the amount of time they live for the spirit is less than 20%. You are deemed to have lived for the spirit for 80% of your life only if you lived most of your life for your spirit.

If we are ignorant to the way the spiritual world (Heaven) works, then how can we hope to live there eternally?

As we live our lives this week, let's consider how much effort we are truly putting forth to live according to God's will using the Word delivered through Jesus!
